BAPTISMS

BAPTISM

Water baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It is a visual and symbolic demonstration of a person’s union with Christ in the likeness of His death and resurrection. It signifies death to an old way of life and the start of a brand new one.

FAQs

  • Baptism is a powerful next step for anyone who has decided to follow Jesus. It’s a public and symbolic act where a believer is immersed in water, representing their new life in Christ. Through baptism, we identify with Jesus’ death and resurrection — leaving behind our old life and stepping into the new life God has for us.

  • While baptism doesn’t save us, it’s a powerful step of obedience where God meets us with His grace. Just as a wedding is a public celebration of a private covenant, baptism is a public declaration of our commitment to Jesus — a visible sign that we now belong to Him. Through it, we grow in Christlikeness and are shaped more into who He’s called us to be.

  • At LifePoint, we honor the faith and intentions of those who had you baptized as a child. We believe baptism is meant to follow a personal decision to trust and follow Jesus. If you were baptized as an infant, we encourage you to consider being baptized again—this time as a public declaration of your own faith in Christ.

  • Matthew 28:12-20 / Galatians 3:27 / Matthew 3:13-17

To obey the commands of Christ. To evidence that a person is a disciple of Christ. To follow the example of Christ

  • Baptism isn’t just a responsibility — it’s a privilege and a joyful response to what Jesus has done for us. Through baptism, we express our love for Christ and our desire to follow Him in faithful obedience. Our motivation should be to glorify God, not simply to join a church or please others. It’s an outward sign of an inward transformation, and we celebrate each step taken in trust and surrender to our King.
